    The tourism industry officials of Sri Lanka hopes that the contribution of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibition) tourism to tourist arrivals in general to increase by 5 percent to 20-25 percent in 2019.
    Sri Lanka Convention Bureau Chairman Kumar De Silva explained yesterday that they are confident in terms of MICE tourism contribution to the overall tourist arrivals will a minimum reach 20-25 percent this year from 15-20 percent recorded last year.

    Nepal sees one million tourists last year boosted by increase arrivals

    Tourist arrivals in Nepal reached one million for the first time last year, boosted by increased visitors from India, China, the US, Sri Lanka and the UK.
    The Himalayan nation saw the number of tourists go up nearly by 25 per cent as it welcomed a record high of 1,173,072 visitors in 2018.
    Rabindra Adhikari, Nepal's tourism minister, called the new tourist numbers as “remarkable”.
    Last year also saw record 807 climbers reach the summit of Mount Everest, including 563 summits from Nepal.
    For Nepal, tourism is a major revenue earner and a huge source for its impoverished economy.
